CasaRadar vs HousingAnywhere: fees, alerts and what you actually get in Barcelona (2026)

By Marc Ferrer3 min read

The short answer

HousingAnywhere and CasaRadar solve different problems. HousingAnywhere lets you book a furnished room or flat from abroad, from a verified landlord, with payment protection, and charges a substantial fee for that. CasaRadar does not book anything; it tells you instantly when a matching listing appears on the portals, agency sites and groups it tracks, so you can act first on the open market. If you are arriving in Barcelona and need a safe place for the first months, HousingAnywhere is a reasonable option. If you are here and want a normal long-term contract at market price, the open market with alerts is cheaper.

HousingAnywhere in detail

  • Scope: 30+ countries, 150+ cities; rooms, studios, apartments and student residences, furnished, mid- to long-term. The Barcelona search showed about 3,300 units on 1 November 2026, including residences in Sant Adrià and L'Hospitalet. Some listings come from partner sites and redirect you there.
  • Advertisers are verified (email, ID, KYC). You message the landlord in the platform; contact details are shared after the booking is confirmed.
  • Fees for tenants: searching and messaging are free. When a landlord accepts you, you pay the first month's rent plus a one-time Tenant Protection fee of 25% to 40% of that rent, minimum €175, which is mandatory and generally non-refundable. Every later payment through the platform (deposit, rent, extras) carries a 2.5% service fee. Some landlords add their own agency fee, shown in the listing.
  • Alerts: free search alerts with "real-time updates via email or WhatsApp" when new matching listings go live; the iOS app adds push notifications.
  • Trustpilot: 3.2/5 from about 6,000 reviews (2026-11-01).

What the fee means in euros

For a €1,200 per month flat, the HousingAnywhere Tenant Protection fee is €300 to €480, paid once, plus 2.5% on each rent payment made through the platform. For a €700 room it is €175 to €280. CasaRadar at €39.90 per 2 months costs less than one week of that fee, but gives you no booking protection; you get the protection the Spanish rental law gives every tenant.

Frequently asked questions about casaradar vs housinganywhere

Here are answers to some of the most common questions we receive.

No. Bookings are made online; you have 48 hours after moving in to report that the place does not match the listing, during which the rent is held.

Mostly, but some listings are aggregated from partners and show a "View on partner site" button.

Both send alerts the moment a listing is live. CasaRadar also covers the sources HousingAnywhere does not have, especially WhatsApp and Facebook groups where rooms appear first.
